If adding sunscreen to your morning regime feels like an unnecessary step, consider this statement from the Skin Cancer Foundation: “More than 90% of the visible skin changes associated with aging is caused by the sun’s ultraviolet rays.”

When it comes to protecting your face – your whole body from UVA and UVB rays, your most important defense is sunscreen.

Using sunscreens especially on your oily or acne-prone skin may feel a bit like a misnomer. After all, sunscreens are comedogenic and tend to clog pores leading to breakouts and acne.

Best Noncomedogenic Moisturizer – 2017 Reviews and Top Picks

 Best Noncomedogenic Moisturizer

What does Noncomedogenic Moisturizer do and what does Noncomedogenic mean?
In order to understand what “noncomedogenic” means, I will need to break down the word.

A comedo (or comedones, if more than one) is a type of pimple that can form on your skin.

A comedo is the result of a clogged pore. Pores are the tiny openings in your skin that you can see when you look very closely, especially in a magnifying glass. Inside those pores are hair follicles- sacs beneath the skin that house the hair roots.

When your body produces excess sebum (the oily substance on the skin) this excess sebum can combine with dead skin cells and sometimes bacteria to plug up the pore. The result is a pimple – a comedo.

“Non-comedogenic” is a term used to refer to ingredients that do not block pores and promote pimples.

What are noncomedogenic moisturizers?

Top 5 Best Face Washes for Acne-prone Skin

top face washes

Most people experience blemishes and bumps well into their adult years with some – such as those with acne rosacea- not having acne problems until well into their twenties.

For some people, having acne in your twenties can feel like the revenge of puberty while you try to find makeup that hides your bumps. Fortunately, there is a way around this.

Face washes are products specially formulated for acne. What makes these products very effective is that they often contain salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide which helps to clear acne sores. Some cleansers, however, contain alcohol which tends to dry out the skin causing breakouts so you might need to moisturize after using cleansers.

Use only light, non-comedogenic (oil-free) moisturizers which do not aggravate acne.

This list of skin care products has got something for everyone. There are face wash formulas for all different skin types, from sensitive to acne-prone to combination to dry to oily and even those of us with rosacea.

BB creams or blemish balms are multipurpose beauty products that have become one of the hottest trends in the beauty industry.

They are a versatile product that works as a moisturizer, sunscreen, concealer, makeup base or primer, skin treatment, and foundation.

BB creams were first developed in the 1960s by German dermatologist Christine Schrammek as a full coverage protective cover for patients’ skin after facial peels and surgery.

BB creams took off in South Korea as an alternative to foundation and moisturizer. Several BB creams contained important ingredients like hyaluronic acid and vitamins C, which brightened and evened skin tone, reduced hyper pigmentation of skin and treated blemishes such as acne, sun spots and age spots.
